An Example Case

The father brought in his very bright, active, alert 4 month old baby boy. Exposed skin of his face and neck looked as if he had been burned. His skin was red and raw and scaling, on cheeks, forehead and neck. It was oozing blood and fluid.

They had already been to the ER, and two other health care providers. He had been placed on oral antibiotics and various topical creams, lotions, and cortisones. But, no one had ever showed parents how to use these medicinals.

Parents were bathing him in daily warm soapy water; and, using their medications a couple times a day, as directed. His fingernails were long and dirty. His skin was scratched raw, oozing and bloody.

I informed them of his super sensitive skin which accounted for how bright and alert he was. For, his eyes followed very closely to all my moves.

I told the father that he was to treat this baby's skin as he would a severe burn or the father's eye. The only thing to be used on his skin was tepid water, blot very gently until just damp; then, sparingly apply OTC 1% hydrocortisone (HC) ointment. I showed dad just how to apply. Because 1% HC not a prescription, they were to use it very sparingly, 4 times/day on damp skin. I showed dad how. And, I advised him to get baseline photos of the rash when he got home, using their phone-camera.

I saw this baby 2 weeks later. His surface skin had healed. The tissue below surface skin was still very red. Itch was controlled. All scratch marks were gone. Baby was happy, smiling, and very alert.

Father was told to continue only tepid water, (no soap, fabric softeners, lotions or creams); but, simple mineral oil could be used on his gently dampened uninvolved skin. OTC HC was to still be used AM and PM on damp involved skin. Complete healing of surface and deeper skin tissue would take up to 3 months.

His skin now, compared to the initial skin photos, looks fantastic. I then informed them they have a treasure. For, this little boy will be active, busy, and a hand full. By getting down on their knees and showing him and telling him; reading to him; and, giving him a love for books; he will be a best student. For, his sensitive skin and his keen, smart, sensitive brain are made from the same basic tissue.

Parents are extremely happy with the results. Their healing results are due to application of consistent protection, a very weak cortisone to help suppress his intense inflammation, and time for skin to heal; just as God had programmed this baby's skin to do.

Little Bobby had severe infantile eczema. We were able to control and get it healed during his first year. They moved. I did not see his mother until 14 years later. She was my first consult patient of that day. She only came back to thank me. Bobby was an excellent student, as I had predicted.

Bobby is in an advanced school.

His mother only came in to thank me for all the hard work I did; and advise I gave them when Bobby was an infant.

The school had recently given Bobby an IQ test. Bobby has the highest IQ they had ever tested. When I heard this, I teared up. I almost cried. What a fantastic gift God allowed me to have that day.
